I just got my 1st tattoo yesterday....?

Question

I've been keeping it moist and cleaning it every 4 hours. The artist told me to keep saran wrap on it, but whenever I put it on and then clean it later there is ink residue on the plastic, is this normal? I've stopped putting the wrap on it because of this and because it falls off easily, and because its on my shoulder and I can't really put it on correctly. Also, when do I start with putting aquaphor lotion on it?

you don't put plastic wrap on the tat. it should stay off, except for the first 1-2 hrs. then just use A&D ointment on it, don't swimm/submerge it for 2 weeks (until healed). keep it moisturized (non-scented), and use sunscreen. get a new artist. this one doesn't know how to care for a tat. oh, and DON'T pick at it. tap the skin with a finger if it itches, no scratching!

Keep clean, but don't "scrub" it. The ink residue on the plastic is normal, I had this also when I used gauze pads on my tattoos. I'v e never used saran wrap or aquaphor lotion, but I used lots and lots of cocoa butter, pure. I kept the tattoos very moistened with the butter all the time for quite a few days, starting the day after I got the tattoos. So get some lotion on the tattoo now and keep it moist ALL the time. You can use gauze pads if you change it often to protect your shirt.

I can't believe your artist told you to keep saran wrap on it! That is such a bad idea! Your skin needs to be able to "breath" and keep saran wrap on it is like putting a plastic bag over your head.

Remove the saran wrap and stop using it....just use A&D or cocoa butter.

The skin will probably start peeling, don't peel it! That will remove the ink and you will have blotches on your tattoo. No good.

Also it will probably start to itch. Don't scratch it. That will also remove the ink.

You need to keep the saran wrap off. That is like keeping a wet bandaid on a wound on your finger. The tissue seems to turn white,swell and get deformed, and and you could easily pick the skin away. . You don't want that to happen.to your tatt. . Keep it moisturized for at least a month.

hmmm, my artist never tells me to keep saran wrap on my tattoo. and i always start with A+D for three to four days and then switch to fragrance free lotion. i hope that helps some.

once you remove the first bandage from the tattoo and wash it with anit bacteria soap, apply some vitamin E oil to it. and leave it alone.



you do not want to keep it moist with water, use the oil it will help it heal and keep your skin healty so that your tattoo is great looking.



never re-cover a tattoo once the first bandage is removed.



and NEVER use that artist again. he obivously does not know what he is doing by giving you bad information like that.

i didnt put anything on mine, and ye its gonna flake a lot cos of like goo and ink coming out while its healing, its pretty gross but dont pick at it.

you need to just let it go. it's going to be fine.just keep it moist..no suranwrapp just some vasaline or medicated cream. that plastics gonna lead to infection.
