I got my belly button pierced a few days ago, and I've been using Betadine (i think that's how you spell it) but i was also recommend to do sea salt soaks, but i'm not sure i'm using the right kind of sea salt. The stuff i bought today is called "Bobs Red Mill" it says it's premium Quality, and all natural sea salt. it's made from purified Pacific sea water by an all natural evaporation process. It has a high sodium chloride content and contains all the minerals that are usually refined out of ordinary earth salt. on the package it doesnt say it's been iodized (i know for the sea salt to be able to use on piercings it has to be non-iodized). the salt looks like normal table salt, lol. please help me out :)

That sounds like it'd be fine.

But if it worries you too much, go get some salt that clearly says it's non-iodized. I use McCormick's Sea Salt- no iodine.

If you're worried or the salt is causing problems, look for some that says pure instead of all natural. You can also use kosher salt instead of sea salt, it's almost always pure and has no iodine. You don't necessarily need the betadine, saline soaks are gentler and will clean the piercing just as well, along with soap and water.

Oh god, stop using the Betadine. It's way too harsh to use on a piercing (it's an iodine solution)! I really hope your piercer didn't tell you to use that.

But yes, that will be fine. If it was iodized it would list iodine (potassium iodide) in the ingredients.

First of all, there's no need to worry. I'm sure your belly button is healing just fine, those things rarely get infected unless you physically abuse it or get it dirty often. Just keep it clean and continue using your salt products and you'll see that it'll heal in no time.

If you get saline solution, it works really good. It is already pre mixed. You just have to make sure that you get just the saline solution, not the stuff that you use to rub and clean the contacts
