I got a tattoo around may with my best friend. Its half a heart outlined with black colored in red with her initials. She has the other half. Im planning on getting it covered up since we are no longer best friends. I would like to get a pretty lily. What color will cover the red?

A darker red or a purple should do the trick for the red. The real problem is what will cover the black that's in the piece. If it's fairly small, there's a way to do it. The trouble with cover-ups is picking something that will hide the original tattoo, without it being too obvious. The way we do that, is to take a piece of Saran wrap, put it over your original, and trace a line around it with a sharpie. Then we take the outline, and slide the proposed pattern under it, to find out if there is enough dark in the pattern to disguise or cover the black. Tattoo pigment is translucent, rather than opaque. The proposed pattern where it covers the black must either be black, or at least very dark, or it's just not going to look right. Your artist will be able to tell what will work, or what will not. He can draw something up custom, far easier than finding a pattern to fit. Take care.

what if i have half sleeve an big dark shaded all black an covers my upper arm and a mickey mouse on right forearm and 2 large black one really shaded black. Well 20 in June 20 year old tattoos. I can't afford to have them covered up with that INK I think came out in 2011 or 2012 that covers black with color an I got that article bookmarked but haven't read it.

Does that really work? Also I noticed so many tattoo kits on ebay and amazon so I was thinking I'm pretty smart cant draw or paint so why not give it a try it myself. The last man that tattooed my hand with what I wanted to be roses and a circle ripping through the skin with a awesome pentagram in it was done by a Professional tattoo artist he said he won contest in california. well the hand was infected for 2 or 3 months and the middle of the pentagram looked like it was rotting out for more that 6 months an he was trained. he wouldn't wear gloves that I bought, made me keep the same needle to use every time. had me wash the cap he was using. it was about 4 or 5am when he did the finished the pentagram an i was so sleepy but when i woke up an looked at it. I called him an said I want my alienware m11x back cause im looking at a 10 and a 5 dolor tattoos. But my nephew was dating his daughter which had nice work from her father. my nephew said if he did a bad job he would pay for it. The guy wanted 900.00 my jaw hit the floor. I said im on my way to get my laptop and he said 100.00 and ill send it with my wife. my nephew paid him. I asked his daughter why her tattoos where awesome an mine bit dirt an she asked if he smoked pot (i don't and can't) I said yes. She said he does crap when he smokes pot.

Oh here is a link to the article about the expensive color ink that covers solid black. I hope you enjoyed my story ill keep you posted on my own teaching myself tattoo work :)

i got the kit an i have had no infections i have 4 small scabs which will be gone in a day or so. I have to color in this pentagram an still have to fix so many lines but for a little over 2 weeks I think I'm doing better that that professional did. lol. Would love to get a Tattoo Apprenticeship. Ive made every mistake i can think of no infections i keep my station desk clean an if it touches the floor it's trash. im still having a hard time with 9m ft shading. If i had a month with a real artist I could do so much an get so much better. I would love to be licensed and the best I can be. Nice meeting you....

Black, of course, any darker color. Blue, brown, purple, anything like that.
