My dad passed away this fall from lung cancer... I was thinking I would get a wrench tattooed on my left forarm. My dad was a mechanic and he helped make me the very strong and independent woman I am today. My biggest problem with this design is its a tool.... I'm not a rock a tool the rest of ur life kinda girl... However if it could be rethought I would consider it. I don't wanna stray from the idea but I also need help with the design... I don't do RIP and that crap I just want something to keep my dad close to me. Plz help! :)

I'm also getting a tattoo after losing my dad to lung cancer. I'm getting a cancer ribbon wrapped around a cross. You could get a cancer ribbon wrapped around a wrench. Just an idea. Hope it helps.

If you want to show independence what about a pin-up girl holding/leaning against a wrench? I think they actually look pretty awesome if placed well and if you think maybe having it on the arm or leg is a bit masculine you could maybe have it on your side for something more feminine?

I dunno it's totally up to you and you know what you don't want but this way you can incorporate a few symbolic ideas in one?

Hope I helped :)

Think of everything that comes to mind when you think of your father, maybe merge the wrench and the cancer ribbon together? Try different combinations of things that remind you of him the most :)

As your father might say. Don't be a retard, defiling your body isn't honoring him. Light a candle if you must, forget someone using you skin as a canvas.

First of all, I'm very sorry for your loss, it must be terrible.

I suggest you have a serious look at http://www.shegsy.com/life.html as there are some great tribute tattoo designs.

All the best
