New tattoo looks faded?

I'm no professional, but since it's healing, it might just look that way. I would wait until it's fully healed. Avoid as much irritation as possible. Keep applying A&D, just don't drown it.

If after it's fully healed you are still unsatisfied, you can go see a tattoo artist. However, if you want it re-coloured, you'll have to pay unfortunately.

For the first day of tattoo maintenance, they should have told you to wait for one hour and then lightly rinse the area with diluted, non-scented soap and then apply A&D. You're only supposed to use A&D for the first two days and then switch to unscented lotion, applying only TWICE a day (anymore can ruin the tattoo). Did they ask you to sign any papers when you got it done? Usually these papers list tattoo maintenance somewhere on them. If not, and if they didn't make you sign a release form agreeing that you wouldn't sue them for infection/damage/etc, I would sue them.

It's possible that the tattoo artist who did your tattoo simply didn't go over the lines well enough (which would result in a dull, faded appearance), in which case you can't really sue (every artist works differently - yes it sucks, but that's how it is). Also, it's possible that you didn't care for it well enough because they didn't tell you how to (in which case you'll have to wait for it to completely heal - most artists won't touch up on a tattoo until 3 weeks after it's been done). They'll charge anywhere from 50-150 depending on where you go. Most tattoo shops have a minimum charge of 50, regardless of tattoo size. I had my last tattoo done in two sittings (the black outlining was done one week, and I went back 3 weeks later to have the color filled in - the tattoo artist wouldn't work on it any sooner than that).

Best of luck, and I hope you get your tat fixed.

Yeah, it can be recolored. Call a local tattoo parlor and ask them these questions and get a price. Shouldn't be too much, but they'll be basically redoing the tattoo. This time ask them the proper way to let it heal.

Is the whole thing faded? I don't think it would cost much to get it touched up. Some places don't even charge, but they might since you didn't get it there. It still probably wouldn't be much.

Sometimes the colour doesn't stay in so well, depends how you heal really and we are all different so perhaps it just did not retain the colour so well. I would go to another tattoo artist and have the colour retouched, easy peasy. Costs vary per shop so I would not like to guess how much you will be charged. If it has healed totally (all the scabs off) then you could go have it looked at now, the artist would advise when would be the best time to actually have it done.

Hey there! It sounds like your tattoo may not have healed properly. It's too bad the tattoo parlor didn't give you care instructions. If your tattoo scabs up and is rubbed off a lot of the color can come out, leading to a blotchy or faint tattoo. That's why caring for it while it's healing is so important. Generally tattoos need to be cleansed with antibacterial soap a few times per day, and then you need to apply a coat of triple antibiotic to help the healing process. Ideally no scabs will form, although usually tattoos peel as the new skin forms. You aren't supposed to pick at the peeling skin because you can pull out color. Ultimately you'll probably have to wait until the tattoo has completely healed (wait another week at least) and then go back to a tattoo parlor to get it touched up.

Well, ur tattoo parlor wasn't a good 1. They are supposed to instruct u well about the after care as thats more important than getting the tattoo itself.

The damage has already been done. So u'll have to go 4 a touch-up. Give it a month, then find yourself a reputed tattoo parlour and go and enquire about the damages. A touch-up will probably cost u half of what u paid for the tattoo...just find out first.

And when u get it done, make sure u follow the instructions given by your tattoo artist.

Use google to get more info, be well informed before u go so u won't get fooled. Thats what i did.

A tattoo is a lifelong memory...take gud care of it.

N don't listen to people who ridicule u. They don't have the guts to get 1 in the first place.

Take gud care :)

Any decent tattoo parlor would have given you basic instructions on how to care for your tattoo. You should have kept it covered with some Vaseline jelly or some antibiotic ointment to help it heal faster.

Unless the tattoo artists did a cr@ppy job and didn't inject the ink deep enough, the tattoo might look faded much faster. I've had mine for more than 8 years now and it looks just as good as when I first got it.

If you want to touch it up, you probably should give it some time to let that area heal completely before you hit up another tattoo parlor. If it's that faded, then the touch up will probably cost as much as the original one.

It sounds like you got screwed over while getting a drunken tattoo: you aren't the first one. A tattoo artist charges a variable amount per hour, but to touch up a tiny tattoo, you're probably looking at around $50.

Any good tattoo parlour would give you a free estimate before you started, if you're worried about the money.

Yeah, that will happen sometimes when you're not told how to properly care for it. Ideally, you're supposed to wash it twice a day (at most) very very gently with dial and keep it moisturized with tat wax. It should never form a hard scab that falls off, it should mostly just get a little dry and flake away to reveal a new, colorful tattoo.

Don't worry though. When it's done healing, just go to a local tattoo parlor with a good reputation, tell them your situation and they'll touch it up for you. Color work is generally more expensive than black/grey work but since it's a touch up and not an original design and it's small, I would pay more than $80, tops.

Good luck. Don't worry, this is fixable.

It may have faded because of the chaffing (cant spell, sorry) but it should be fine, maybe just faded a little. It'll take about a month to see the true color of the tattoo, it'll look dull or faded until then.. You have to give it a month for a fair chance, haha. . .They usually look bright right when you get them, then dull, then they brighten up. The scab will fall or rub off, its not a huge deal, it might scar a bit and be a litttttle more faded but it wont be completely gone. If you're not happy with it in a month (a month after you got it), then you should be able to go somewhere and get it touched up... they usually say 4-6 weeks for touch up... Should be no more than about 50 dollars! (given it really is small :) )

If you pick scabs off tatoos then they will be light. You should keep a tatoo moisturised and if it is rubbing on your pants cover it with a soft bandage and maybe some saran wrap.... It isnt going to brighten up any so it will have to be touched up. Getting it in vegas there is a good chance it was a cheep tatoo and you got scamed! Look around where you live and see how much it will cost you, there is really no other way to tell because the cost of tatoos is different in different places. I know where I live it is cheap because there are soooo many tatoo places, but a half an hour away in chicago it costs 3 times as much.

In addition to what has already been said... The tattoo will go through more than one peeling, really. There's the first one you've seen, much like a sunburn, but the skin below that will also peel - just not in the same way. I've found it takes about a month to get to the mostly 'cooked' state for a tattoo, but three months to really settle in. As mentioned it *won't* be as bright as when you first get it since ink is in all layers of the skin at that point. However, it will brighten once your skin has had a chance to regenerate all the way down to the last layer pierced by the tattoo needle. In the meantime, you're looking at the ink through damaged - but currently being repaired/replaced by the body - skin tissues.

The first thing to do for the first couple of days is to put A&D after that it will only make it lighter but now that it is healed you can go to a tattoo parlor ask them if they can fix it for you then ask them to tell you what to do next so it wont happen again

they should have told you ow to take care of it. youre not supposed to let it scab for at least 3 days simply because it takes more of the color out the earlier it scabs. it probably wouldnt cost more than 50 bucks to fix up.

unfortunatley thats it for your tattoo. its as dark as it will be, until you get it redone.

this is why you dont get tattoos on tourist strips.

Sounds like you didnt take care of it or picked the scabs, or its just in a place that gets rubbed. Thats why you get tats near home, so a touch up is free. You can get it touched up after it heals up. They can do it anytime really but its harder to tell where to hit when its still flaking. I take it this was your first ink? The colors always look a little different after they heal.

touch up $$$ depends where you go and how big it is. Ask around your town for a good, honest shop and talk to them.

A lot of people say that A&D pulls color out of it.

and that you should keep it moist with Jergens ultra healing.

you could probably go to a tattoo artist to touch it up and stuff but idk how much they'd charge.

Great job in getting a tattoo in the first place. I'd like to welcome you to the ranks of the mindless millions who already have inked themselves into conformity.
