Question:
Should I get this tattoo now, wait, or not?

I'm 19 and in college and I have been curious about tattoo's in the past, but never cared enough to pursue one. Now, I am really interested in getting one. I am not torn between getting one, just a certain one in particular.

It basically will be black "tiger stripes" going down my whole right arm. My dad wouldn't like it, but I am trying to keep that out of my mind. I have a job that involves dress shirts, so it wouldn't be seen at work, therefore no problems there. What else do I need to consider? I don't need to be told about when I start to become old, as in, old enough to have my skin start to wrinkle and such.

I don't have any tattoo's yet, so this could be my first one, and possibly my only. What else should I think about?

Tattooing your whole arm while you are so young will limit a lot of things for you.

I would recommend getting something smaller and just wait and see how that goes.

What you should think about is that you are only 19 and getting a tattoo that bold will hurt your entire professional life. You will have to wear long sleeves ALL THE TIME if you want the corporate world to take you seriously. I do not know where you are planning on going with your professional career, but most places will not even consider hiring you if they see that on your arm. If you really want a tattoo, try a smaller one or put it on a part of your body that will be easier to cover up than an arm....like your leg, maybe.

If you want a tattoo, get one. Just be sure you will like what you get forever. If you want "tiger stripes" going down your arm, just think about your job and looking professional (even if you do wear dress shirts, you may not wear long sleeves all the time for the rest of your life.)

Things to consider, where you get it, like the tattoo shop. Make sure they are a clean shop. If your friends have any, see where they got theirs so you can see the kind of work the tattoo artist does.

Hey, I think it's great that you want some art. The most important thing is finding a good tattoo artist. I don't know what area of the country you are in. But do research, and go to more than one artist while you decide. Make sure that's the tattoo you want and go for it. I will say that I just had one of my tattoos covered. I grew out my old one. It costs just as much or more to get one covered. So be sure. hope this helps...

You might want to consider starting out with a few stripes maybe across the upper arm. Then, after a year or so, if you still like it, you can have it done all the way down your arm. A arm long tattoo is a big step for a first timer.

i was always told to have the idea in your head or a visual picture where you can see it all the time...like in your room on the wall or somewhere you go often. If you still like the idea after 3 months then go ahead and get it. that gives you plenty of time to think about it and within 3 months people change their attitudes about things like that....whether its the spur of the moment or seriously thought about. Plus, that tattoo is going to be expensive if it's going all the way down your arm. It does sounds like a big tattoo to start out with, but that is totally your choice. Most people like to have something small that they can hide for their first.

My daughter is 16 and she first mentioned wanting a tattoo and about 12. I made her wait until she turned 16 and told her that is she still wanted one that I would take her to get one. She got her first one on her 16th birthday. If you are unsure of what you are getting don't get it, because there is room for regret in that situation. Make sure that you are not going to regret it the next day. If you are torn now, just wait a few months and see how you feel then. You are the only one who can make this decision because it is your body. You are the one that will have to deal if you wake up one morning and regret getting it done. I have never regretted any of mine, but I know why I got them to begin with. My daughter I doubt will ever regret hers because she knows why she got it and what it stands for.

Just be sure. I think that it would look great, but you just need to be sure and make sure you are over being "torn" before you get it.

Best of luck to you....

I am a big fan of tattoos, but I'm not sure that I like your design idea only because of the location. My friend has that same thing, but it's covering her entire back and it looks ok. I think that your arm is kind of a small place to put a larger design. Plus...if you ever want to hide it for any reason, it will be difficult.

Before you ink make sure you are doing it for a reason that will ring clear in your head and heart 10 years from now. You will -at some point- interview for a promotion,a new job, a loan, or something. If it's something you feel strongly about-knock yourself out. If you aren't sure-try henna. Tattoos are meant to last forever-think before you ink.

if you get your whole arm covered now it will limit the choice of work for your future. i have 2 tats that are well hidden i would suggest getting something smaller first, not your whole arm. just think too when you older like say 50 it will defiantly not look as good as b4.

but just remember it is your choice.

You have to make sure that you are willing to wear long sleeves for your entire professional career. I have a friend with sleeves, and he can't roll his shirt sleeves up while he is at work, etc. I think that when you get old, you will have a story to tell your grandkids or whatever.

Make sure that you are willing to have your dad mad as hell at you...if you can deal with that, go for it.

If its something you want then go for it.its your body, right? If you like it then thats all that matters

I would suggest though that maybe you wait it out for a few weeks or so.Thats what i do.Im always wanting to dye my hair a differeny way. But,i always think of a way i wanna do it,and it seems really cool to me,but then after a while i dont like it too much and think of something better.Im glad i wait because then i would be stuck with something i really didnt want.get it?

Good Luch!I hope you like it! =]

well if i was you i would not get one!!! i if i was in my body i would not get a tattoo either because when you are old you will still have that and it would look just wrong and it is really bad for your skin and it hurts 2 much and little children will think you are scary!!!! just telling the truth!!!!!!

hope i helped!!!!!

I dont think you should get a tatoo.Because you may think its a good idea now but when you turn to like your 40's or 50's you may not like .And then what ? But that's just my opinion.

Well I love tattoo's and have several!! But since this is your first, I would not start off that large. First of all you don't know if you will really like it. Please please think long and hard!!
