I am looking for a tattoo to get for myself about my son. He was born Sept. 6th via emergency c-section. He wasn't supposed to make it through the night. Only by the grace of God I'm sure he has made a full recovery and is a healthy silly 3 month old boy. Any ideas? I wanted to somehow incorporate his name in it, but it's not necessary

I know that someday I want to get my children's names done. But I think if I wanted something more elaborate than just their names I'd wait till they have more of a personality. That way it means more. Otherwise a really cool idea is to get his feet prints, with his name and the date he was born. Or something that represents his struggle, or your faith that he would be okay.

Isn't the scar on your abdomen enough? But, if you are determined to get a tattoo and I think your reason is a good one. Tattoos traditionally are a story of ones life and surely a difficult child birth is a good one. Here is what you need to consider. Are you strong in your faith? What is your ethnic background? What are your strongest and most sincere core beliefs? What have you believed your entire life? Once you have done this then you must decide on something that must be explained and must totally related to the explanation. It must be simple in design that only you and those close to you will relate to. It must not trivialize the even, or appear cartoonish, cute or faddish. It must be a sincere joy-full blessed representation that will carry the same message the first day you had it until the last of your days.

My heritage is celtic, Appalachian scotts-Irish. I am solid in my belief in god but I don't buy the whole Holy Roman Empire thing. My family and those events which have shaped my life are pure in nature. I would look into my sons eyes and reflect for days, then I would do my research. Knowing that I would have other children I would consider a theme. Celtic symbology seems to do it for me. I would choose from the "Claddagh" , "Celtic Knot" or something of that nature. For you I would suggest the Celtic Tree of Life or the Pictish. But, again only you can decied. Good luck, take your time and do your homework. Know yourself before you express yourself.
