Just going to make this short.. I've been dealing with self harm/self injury since I was 9. I'm currently trying to overcome that now and I wanted to get a tattoo that has the "recovery" meaning behind it if that makes sense. Any ideas? I want it for my birthday.

Maybe a figure of a guy/girl breaking the top of an hourglass trying to reach out and get out of it. The figure's bottom side can be in it to make it look like it is a part of the sand in the hourglass. Maybe some candles or a single candle next to it and a rose. Or the melting candle drip on the rose and stuff.

The part under the guy/girl figure may have a night and the upper part of it can have a day background to it. My case was not too severe with self harm but that's absolutely what I would do. Infact I like it, if you're not upto it I might even do it lol. Ofcourse it would be big but this should give you a good idea. Sorry for typos and have a good day.
