Try doing some more research on the internet for "stick and poke" tattoos. The best ones are achieved by using actual tattoo needles, but it's possible to use a needle.
You'll want to sterilize the needle beforehand. To do this, boil it for about 5 minutes. After sterilization, only handle the needle with a gloved hand. If you don't have gloves then as a minimum scrub your hands and forearms with antibacterial soap and then clean with some hand sanitizer.
Wrap the needle with some thread. This will assist with grip, holding ink and stopping the needle from going too deep. Make the wraps about 1mm from the tip of the needle. You don't want to go any deeper than that.
For ink, you will want a high grade india ink. Avoid ballpoint pen ink, sharpie ink and anything with stuff like turpentine. It's going into your body, so the cleaner, the better.
Before you begin, clean the area with rubbing alcohol. Afterwards, clean off any excess ink with a gentile soap and cover it for a few hours. Clean your tattoo gently with soap and clean hands and then apply a light coating of a triple antibiotic ointment, bacitracin or neosporin. Continue this for about 4 days. Don't pick or scratch it. Keep it clean.
As I mentioned above, look up some information on "stick and poke tattoos." There's a few resource sites out there with some really good information.
