Question:
Outlining the tattoo?

Im going to start looking in to apprenticeships for tattooing. I have done tattoos already and now im ready to become a pro. I only have one problem. When im outlining a tattoo the ink wont completely stay in first try. For instance say a tattoo artist is doing a straight line. He applies the stencil maybe a little vas and does a smooth stroke. One constant motion from the top of the line to the bottom or bottom to top. When he wipes the line is there. There is my prob. When i wipe it seems as if it misses and doesn't stay in the skin. I use intenze true black for my outlines. Dont get me wrong when im done with a tat it looks good, but how do they get the outline to stick in first wipe? I don't want to hear well you shouldn't be tattooing, or your not a pro, i am in the process so give me some slack.

Help Would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

does your needle stick out about the thickness of a dime. Mess with your power supply. Run it about 12 or more volts. And maybe slower and shorter strokes if all possible. And stretch the skin as tight as possible.

A few pointers. shake the ink bottle first. Make sure they is a ample ink store in the tube. Try going a little slower at the right set up depth. If the outline group is a 5 round or less its best using a 8 wrap machine, not two fast it sould sound even but pacey, 10 and 12 wrap are not great at outlining. As with most things practice makes perfect.

trying pushing deeper mayeb you arent going deep enough so when you wipe it goes away. i am no pro but i watch all those tattoo shows and they made the one apprentice practice on oranges (the peel is liek skin) i guess but they made him do that on the show INKED on a&e becuase he had the same problem [with outline] so try that and see if your going to light

make sure your wrist is slightly relaxed but still firm and try and do your line a tiny bit slower and with more pressure while still maintaining a smoothe line/curve

maybe u need to angle more-not so straight--slower the better for outlines-gun and you.

good luck
