I have an english project, and I'm doing it on tattoos and the reasons why people have them.

Its ranged from things such as punishment, to religious beliefs, to social ranking, etc;

What would be some questions I could ask a normal person who has a tattoo that could relate to the world topic of tattoos and why people have them.

I so far have 'why did you get your current tattoo? and if you were to get another one, what would it be and why would you get thaat?

I need more questions, so if you can think of any send them in. Try to have them relate more to religious or reasons for why people got tattoos decades ago.

ill answer your questions

1) the tattoo says: ALL THE WORLDS A STAGE AND ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN ARE MERELY PLAYERS. i got my current tattoo because i believe that people should not be someone they are not. everyone plays a part to be accept instead of staying true to themselves. i believe that no matter what the situation is be yourself and love yourself for who you are.

2) If i would get another tattoo it would be my grandmas birthday. i thank god everyday that my grandma is in my life i love her to death, and no matter what the situation has been i have always been able to talk to her and she has not judged me. that day is very special to me because she came into this world, and there isnt anything else i would love to have with me for the rest of my life then my grandma.

for questions you can ask:

1) how was the pain?

2) what made you decide to get a tattoo in the first place?

3) if you could change your current tattoo in anyway how would you change it?

4) do you regret any of your tattoos?

5) what does your family think about your tattoos?

6) how old were you when you got the first one?

7) which one of your tattoos was the most expensive?

hope it helps! :)

1. What/Who inspired you to get a tattoo?

2. What do others (family, friends, etc.) think of your tattoo?

3. If you could do it again, would you?

4. What is the best part of having a tattoo? (attitude changes, individuality)

5. Is there any historical figure (who have tattoos) that you look up to?

6. What are you opinions about tattoos in the workplace?

7. Should tattoos be discriminated against while applying for jobs, school, etc.?

8. Did you have any doubts about getting a tattoo?

9. How do you think the public eye views tattoos?

10. Do you think the popularity of tattooing today is really based on individuality or the idea of joining the bandwagon?

Well from what I can tell the folks here are normal.

Reasons people get tattoos

* Religious

* Artwork

* Personal Meaning

* Gang

* Culture or tribal tradition. * Drunk and Stupid

* And a thousand other reasons.

Many Catholics, particularly Mexican Catholics, have beautiful tats of Mother Mary or Our Lady of Guadapplupa. An obvious Question is, "what is the story of Our Lady of Guadalupa? How is she special to you? Is your tattoo a memorial or a form of prayer?".

More general religious questions. Do people in you church or family object to your tats on religious grounds? What are the arguements they make? What is your response to those arguements? What is the meaning of X religious symbol tattoo you have? How long did you think about getting that tattoo before getting it. Have you been able to share your faith directly or indirectly because of your tattoo?

I'm brain dead right now because I'm having trouble coming up with more questions. Take a look at the questions/answers in this topic for more ideas.

-You could ask if they would ever want to try the technique that they do in places like the Philippines, where they hand tap the ink using needles carved from animal bones.

That's a question that they probably wouldn't be expecting.

-You could ask them if they'd ever try the Scarring tecnique where they carve the design into their skin, and it scares over in that design.

-You could ask them which part of their body hurt the worst.

-What the meaning of their tattoo is.

-If they would shave their head, and get a tattoo on their head for a certain amount of money. ($500, $1000, ect)

-If anyone else in their family has tattoos, and what they are off.

-If, in a partner, they look for them to have tattoos. Or if it doesn't matter.

Basically, if they are more attracted to someone with tattoos, than ones without them.

If someone came up to them, and asked them to take a picture of their tattoo, that was personally designed, to take it to their tattoo shop to get the same tattoo, would they let them? Or would they tell them that they designed it, and they don't want anyone else having it.

There are a lot of questions to ask people with tattoos.

Just be creative.

Hope I helped.

It would be interesting to ask what their tattoo or tattoos mean to them. I know with my own tattoos sometimes the why doesn't always correlate to the meaning (if that makes sense).

Was it painful?

When did you get it?

What can you compare the pain to?

Do you have any regrets?
