Question:
Some ink on my new tattoo has rubbed off. What does that mean?

I got a tattoo yesterday and I wore a jacket today. I made sure that the sleeve never clung to my arm where my tattoo is. I guess it was touching it for just too long even though my jacket was not tight at all. I could see some small ink stains on my sleeve and my tattoo has little specs of black in different areas. Will this affect the shape and form of my tattoo or did some ink just get "pulled out" and will not be as bold? In other words, is it fixable if I get it retouched?

No need for retouching, this is perfectly normal. I figured your tattoo artist might have mentioned that but maybe not. It will stain.. so get ready for that. I have around 12 bikinis that all have hot pink eiffel tower imprints from when I got my first tattoo...

The color will rub off a bit, and then in a few days it will start to scab, peel.. all that fun stuff. It's going to look kindof weird for a few weeks and then once everything falls off it will look normal and great! :)

First of all, as long as you follow the cleaning procedures recommended by your tattoo artist, he will most likely touch it up for free.

Second, that is normal and it will peel for a few days. The color will not be as vibrant as it was when you originally received it.

If the shop did not give you specific instructions, I recommend A and D ointment after cleaning with soap and water. Many other products are so effective that they draw the ink out of the tattoo. A and D helps the peeling without the antibacterial ingredients. Thats why it should only be used after a soap and water clean for the first 3 days.

But Def ask your shop for specifics so you can receive free touch ups, some will even give you free touch ups for life.

no. People always freak when they see ink on there clothes for the first couple days or what not. All tattoos bleed. Its not a big deal at all (at least I have never had a client come back in with parts of there tattoo missing or anything, unless they scratched the hell out of it and ripped it) You'll be fine.

Its just needs to dry out more.

Your tattoo is going to be alright. It just excess ink coming thru your pores. Just keep your tattoo hydrated to keep the color but if there is large amount of black ink in your piece, you might have to get it touched up because the artist might have not covered the complete area but you won't know until 2 weeks later. Over the years, your tattoo may become faded because the ink sinks farther into your skin but keep in hydrated.

it's normal to have the small ink stains because as your skin is healing, the ink is squeezed out. This doesn't affect the shape or anyhting of the tattoo, you're just healing. Just get a touch up in 3-4 weeks and you should be good.

yes perfectly normal. unfortunately.i have ink stains all over my sheets from my most recent one a month ago. sometimes if you put a little too much a&d oinment on it makes the ink bleed a little more, try to use as little as possible when applying it, but of course enough to keep it moist. other then that relax, nothing will go wrong besides investing in new clothes or sheets, lol

your tattoo artist didn't explain it to you?
