Hi, I'm going to get a touch up for one of my tattoos, shading in some white squares ( Chess game). How much do I tip???? I'm not sure what's too much or not enough? I was thinking 20-30...?????

It depends on how much they charge and how long it takes-- for standard work-- I ususally top 20%+. Since my artist charges $100 per hour, I pay him $120, and if it's a long session or if I've been particularly difficult (low pain tolerence, I move a lot), I will add in a bit more.
For touch up work, some shops will charge a discounted fee so if they charge-- I go with the same 20%. My aritst doesnt charge for it though-- so I just go with my standard tip, for when he would be charging-- $20 for the first hour-- and then $5 more for every 15 minutes past that.
Hope that helps!

Depends on how long it takes. For a touch up it's harder to judge because you cannot do percentages - tattoo artists usually do touch ups for free - I give smaller tips. Like ten bucks. I tip really generously on the actual sittings but for touchups I give a lot less because they usually only take a few minutes. If it's a big touchup and it takes half an hour, yeah, $25-30 is probably appropriate.

I would give a min of 25 if you can! This makes it more worthwhile for the artists time and then if you go back for more work they are likely to do a great job the next time, since they appreciate you as a customer!
