I'm getting my first tattoo this weekend and I'm trying to prepare some aftercare stuff now. I have a giant bottle of Cetaphil soap that I've barely used and I've heard that it's very gentle, so would it be appropriate to use when cleaning the new tattoo?

No. Not at all. You want fragrance free dial anti bacterial soap. That part is important, prevents infections. I got the store brand of it though, which is the only exception. If it's not fragrance free it burns and could possibly mess your tat up.

Antibacterial cleansing soap isn't the final factor to apply on a clean tattoo. All you elect is undemanding cleansing soap like unscented Dove or Ivory. Wash your tattoo approximately 2-thrice an afternoon and be conscious a mild layer of unscented white lotion or tattoo ointment while your tattoo starts to sense slightly dry.
