Got a calf tattoo last week. Still hurts when I bend my knee or stand on my leg for extended periods-or out of the blue. Is this normal?

The session was 6 hours long. There was no pain or swelling until two days later, Sunday. When I looked at my leg, I noticed a lot of swelling and heat in my leg. It also hurt to stand and walk around. I understand that there is some pain to be expected from this type of tattoo, as well as tightness of the skin and some swelling; however, it's a week later and I am still having trouble walking on my leg sometimes. At points during the day, it's fine and feels great, but sometimes it's like a constant cramp -never going away. There was some scabbing of the tattoo, where the artist went too deep. The scabbing hasn't healed yet, and that seems to be where most of the pain comes from. Any advice or thoughts on this?

It's normal, I have both calf's tattooed. The first one cause a lot of limping for a couple weeks so yes expect another week of it.

It the pain is bad or heat comes from it - go to a docs is not a good sign. Yes expect pain but if it becomes extreme.

Washing it and applying ointment (proper ointment!) Can relieve tightness in a tattoo

It takes approx 4 weeks for a tattoo to heal but it should ease up in about 2 but ensure you clean it for the 4 weeks

Its normal so dont worry. It will take about 2 weeks before this wears off although you may get a nice warm glow for a while after that. Use an antiseptic cream to avoid infection and go back to the studio if things arent going to plan.

U will have scabbing because u had a needle being scrapped across Ur skin for 6 hours. My calve had some heat like u said after I got mine done. Just keep lotion on it or a&d ointment. Wash it off from the dead skin but gently. The scabs will fall off on their own. If u take them off u can pull the color out. Just keep it moist with the ointment or lotion and u should be fine. If u have swelling still maybe take ibuprofen.

basically a needle and ink is digging into your skin, and if its only be a week it needs a while to heal

Well my tattoo went through this phase. After all ones skin has been literally cut and had ink deposited in it. If it is well taken care if and maintained, then it should get better.
