How much does grey shading on a tattoo lighten after the first night?

My artist said it will lighten, and I really hope it does because it looks too dark in my opinion. There wasn't much I could do once he started with it though. So in your experiences, how much does shading lighten as the tattoo heals? Thanks a ton!

BTW I don't have a picture yet because it's still bandaged.

You should send a picture but gray shading does lighten up. Very light shading, however, should not look black at all but almost brownish in appearance due to the increased blood supply to the area and not a lot of ink.
