I just got my first tattoo and it is now fully healed and I was wondering if it were true that scented lotions can cause problems with tattoos, such as fading or any other type of problems.

If it was a newer tattoo, then definitely don't use scented lotions, they contain alcohol which helps keep the scented fragrance on the skin longer. And alcohol can hurt a new tattoo buy causing excessive drying or extra scarring.
However if it's an older tattoo, it should be OK, I have tattoos on both wrists and I use scented lotion daily and I haven't seen any changes to them, and it's been over a year.
It depends too on if you have really sensitive skin.

Fragrance can cause irritation. There are all kinds of products that people suspect have drawn out some of their ink, but some people use the same products and don't have the same outcome. I waited about 6 weeks or so until I started using scented lotions. Every once in a while I'll use one that will cause my tattoo to itch and become raised and it's a year old now.

i don't have a crazy long explanation for anything but i have plenty of tattoos, so i think i'm well versed..since you are talking about lotion i'm going to assume you've already been through the 'pre lotion' what not.. my artist suggests any non scented lotion.. aquafore if you want to use it..a and d oitment if you want to use...as long as you are using something without a whole bunch of crazy harsh chemicals and additives, you are good to go...you really don't have to get nutso over it...it's pretty hard to screw up the tattoo healing process :) good luck... note- personally...i just use whatever is available in my house..after the first couple of tats, i didn't really feel the need to spend the money on some expensive lotion or cream...and they all healed just the same and just as well after that...

If its healed it wont get harmed, just treat it like your regular skin, if you have always used scented lotions without problems, then go ahead... its inside of your skin now, forever.
