I want to get a tattoo of a two-pronged lightning bolt (like the AC/DC one) in solid black on my hip, and I want it to be about 2.5" long by maybe 1.5" wide. I'm curious as to how much that would cost me, because I've been hearing all sorts of ranged prices from 50 up to 200 dollars. Considering it's relatively small and simple, and done only in black ink, do you think this would reduce the price?

Most places have a minimum price - usually a little more than the needle and equipment used. A couple years ago I got a small lightning bolt and a storm cloud, one each in different places on my body. I paid, I believe, $80. It was this particular parlor's minimum, it took about half an hour. That parlor charged by the piece. Others charge by the hour. Personally, I feel the parlors that charge by the hour are cleaner and have more quality artists.
