Definitely. They'll do a line drawing of your picture, or photocopy just the outline, and then stencil it onto your body. 11 of my 12 tattoos were done this way. I personally think that is the best way to go, because then you don't have the same tattoo that everyone else has!!!

Good luck!

1st, do not take a picture of a tattoo that belongs to someone else and steal it by getting it tattooed on you also. Bad form.

You can however take a picture of a tattoo, a real image, a drawing, an actual object/thing, written descriptions, etc. and you can take a combination of all of these.

You tell your artist what you were thinking, you say: 'I like this part of this picture', 'I like this style', I want something like this, but smaller/larger/and with this and that', 'I want these colors', etc. etc.

Your artist will then work with you to draw up a custom design for your approval. When you are happy with the image, and the tattoo artist and you are on the same page about it, and you have asked every question to satisfaction, then you set up an appointment or start right then to get tattooed. Your artist will know what works and what does not for a tattoo to stand up well over time. He/she will also take into account your anatomy and placement and size. He/she will tell you how much it will cost, and about how many sessions (and about touch ups). You will agree and sign papers to that effect.

You should tip 15% - 20% also.

You should do excellent aftercare for your tattoo to heal properly and for your image to look it's best when it has healed. If you need a touch up you do it then, and start the aftercare all over again (2 - 4 weeks).

Here is an excellent info. site:

Yes you can print out a picture from the internet. Just take it in with you and they will run it through the copier and in large or shrink it to make it the size you want. They will then trace it and run it through the copier again using a special ink that will transfer to your skin. They will transfer the stencil on to your skin and if you like it, the tattoo will begin. After the tattoo is done your artist will give you instructions for after care. But if they tell you to use an anti-biotic ointment, I wouldn't. It's just common sense. The anti-biotic ointment is designed to help your body reject foreign substances from your skin. Face it, you just put a ton of foreign substance in your skin. The tattoo will fade faster and it will make your body reject the ink. If you need any advise on after care just email me.

yes you can print out a picture and give it to your tattoo artist so he can copy it over on to another type of paper. i did this with my first and only tattoo, i found a really nice design and printed it out and gave it to him, i told him that the size needed to be a bit bigger and instead of a butterfly in the center i wanted a heart. most tattoo artist are really good about taking your idea and turning it into a piece of art work that fits your personal style, they can resize, color, and design a tattoo as long as they have a base to start with hence you need to know what you want first good luck

Sure you can, Kristy! Even if it's copyrighted. Copyright laws extend to public display, but not on living skin. There was a court case I heard about where Warner Brothers was trying to sue tattooists, but since the patterns wern't up on their walls (people were bringing them in) the courts said copyright laws didn't apply. So, yeah, you can bring whatcha want! They'll just size it up, then redraw it to suit your taste. Then make a stencil, and slap it on! Enjoy your ink!

Yeah, or you can tell them what you want and have them draw it up. Some times a photo is best since you might not be able to describe what you want correctly.
