What is the best all around size tattoo needle for shading?

I'm trying to learn how to tattoo on my own. What is the best size and type needle for shading? I've seen some on ebay that are in a round configuration and some in a flat configuration and some that have two row config. How do I tell which number goes with which size and shape of needles?

A good all-purpose group for both lining and shading is a tight round seven, designed for both lining and shading. It has a #12 medium taper on the needles, you can get 'em from Cam Tattoo Supply Company.

The one that my husband uses most on me is a round 3 or round 5 needle,but if you want to do big pieces then you would need a bigger needdle like a 9 or 11 flat or round. adn you would tell which number needle goes with wich tube yo0u have to make sure that if u have round needles then u need round tubes that fit for what sze needle the same for flat tubes and flat needles
