How long should i keep A&D ointment on my new tattoo?

I got my first tattoo two days ago, i have been doing everything they told me to do, but i want to know how long should i keep the A&D on for? meaning... when i put it on, how long should i wait till i wash it off? Or should i not wash it off at all?

I've always used for 2 weeks, more if needed. usually twice a day, once in the morning and again at night. you don't need to wash it off cause that's what helps it heal, so if you wash you would just have to reapply it again!

Use it 4 days tops (3 times a day) anymore than 4 days and you could make your skin break out. After day 4 switch to a non scented lotion also put it one 3 times a day. Do not wash it off.

Getting your first tattoo is always exciting but make sure you take care of it properly because it will fade away if you don't. I write a daily tattoo blog and this is one of the topics we covered. I actually wrote a very detailed post called "Tattoo Aftercare: How To Take Care of Your New Tattoo Properly". You should use your ointment for 3-4 days then switch to lotion. For how long, its recommended to use 3-4 hours a day. So 3-4 hours in the morning, then 3-4 in the afternoon, then 3-4 at night.

PS. When you do dry off your tattoo from water and soap, DO NOT RUB THE TOWEL ON IT. I say that in caps because it could ruin the tattoo. It is highly recommended to pat the area with a towel instead of rubbing it.
