Can you get a tattoo at 14 with parental consent in Maryland?

I don't want anything big, & I really do what this tattoo.
I want a small tattoo on my wrist with wings around the word "Daddy" & my dads birth and death date. Just something meaningful and small. My mom even said yes.

I live in Maryland, and I was wondering if I could get a tattoo at 14 if it's small like that?
& If I can do you think the artist will refuse to tattoo me? (I'll be 15 in October)

Call the person or place that's going to do it in advance! If they say no, keep calling til you find one! Also I'm 14 too and would really appreciate if you'd give me feedback on my tattoo question because everyone else just criticizes my age and you understand my pain! Good luck and sorry about your dad! <3

As far as I know, any tattoo parlor in the U.S.A offers a parental consent form that will allow them to waive the age restriction. Some may not allow you however, if they aren't comfortable tattooing a 14 year old. I suggest waiting the 4 years though before getting one, because in those 4 years you are going to grow a lot. If you get the tattoo, it might become distorted over that time and look weird, but you'll stuck with it.

Well hun, you are in luck!

BTW, does no one ever actually look up the state laws?

There are very few states that actually have NO laws about tattoos, Maryland is one of them! This means that you can actually be tattooed at any age, but it is at the discretion of the artist. You have to call around shops and ask. I'd say wait until your eighteen (so your skin won't stretch), but... i'm not here to convince you to not get it done.

No, you can't. The state minimum is 16 years of age (with parental consent) but most reputable tattoo artists won't tattoo anyone under 18 even with parental consent.
