Hello Everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I got a tattoo of my daughter's name. I have to go back to the tattoo place because I need to get it fixed. The first 'a' in the name is unlike the second one. The woman messed it up :(

Anyhow, I wanted her name to be simple and that's fine. But I am going to change the L to something like this:

Now this is my tattoo:

I am thinking of adding something to it but I am not sure. I was thinking of adding this butterfly to the end of her name but of course I would make it smaller:

Any suggestions??

I think go for it it looks great but put the butterfly at the right side with the bottom of the butterfly curling around the bottom of the name.

Dreamer, I say this in love, OK? I think the best thing you can do is get the tattoo removed. Getting a tattoo of someones name is disrespectful to that person, since tattoos are viewed so negatively. Did you get her permission? Or maybe she is too young to give permission? If so, why don't you honor her by being a good Mom and being a good role model instead of getting a tattoo that so many will view negatively? I don't think getting your child's name tattooed on you is a good idea at all. You are showing her the wrong thing about you. As you have already seen, a tattoo is little better than a cartoon—you can’t get a good quality drawing on the human skin, and the "artist" can make mistakes. Don't try to "fix" the existing mistakes, get rid of the tattoo and do not get any more. A tattoo will deface your body like ugly graffiti defaces a public building. There is an 80% chance you will regret it. In a large sense, nothing illustrates the degeneration of western culture more than people permanently disfiguring themselves over some idea of ‘expression”. IAnd yet, more and more young people are buying into the Hollywood lie that tattoos are cool ways to “express” yourself. But it is not true. You should express yourself with your words and actions, not by inking graffiti onto your living flesh. The message you will actually convey with a tattoo is “I am foolish”, “I am unemployable” “I make bad decisions” “I am a gullible robot that will do whatever the media suggests”, and "don't use me as a role model". People who get tattoos show they are immature and they get tattooed for immature reasons (i.e. they want to pretentiously "honor" someone, they want to rebel against or hurt their parents or someone else, they are shallow people conforming to what they think are social norms, they are unable to see ahead and view the negative results of their actions, etc.) Do not get tattooed. Tattoos are permanent. You can not take them back.
