This weekend I'm planning on getting "stay true" in my father's handwriting on the inside of my left index finger (so it will be facing my middle finger). I understand that anything on a hand will be something often noticed but I'm not concerned about that. I know that the palm of the hand will fade a lot, but what about the inside? I'm assuming the pain will be fair ha. Will it blurr more than normal or anything? I'm very particular about my tattoos being clean, dark, and neat. I REALL want to get this done, though. Advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Are you heavily tattooed already? If not, most artists will refuse to do a finger tattoo. You have to know how to take care of a tattoo in an "easy" place to heal before you attempt something as finicky as a finger.

Odds are, it'll fall out or be in need of a serious touch up. Just the daily rubbing of your fingers together will work the ink out. I have a tattoo on the top of my right ring finger and I babied it. I didn't get my hand wet for a week, put a band aid on it when I knew I was risking pulling a scab off, etc. It was really high maintenance. I can't imagine one on the inside. Oy.

It's not a good place to get a tattoo that you have your heart set on looking good. It'll need constant touching up assuming it doesn't fall out completely. If this is something important to you, I'd pick another place to put it.

Tattoos on any part of the hands are going to fade faster because we loose much more skin cells in these areas and have a tendency to damage the skin with our every day actions. The skin here is also very delicate and it could make tattooing small precise lettering very difficult. Since your finger is going to rub against the other finger all the time I would reconsider putting it there.

I love finger tattoos. My friend has one and it hasn't faded. (She had it for maybe a year n a half. Very clean, dark and neat. So just make sure you go to the right tattoo parlor. Try in request someone who has done finger tattoos before. You should be fine, hope you love it.

Personally, I have never seen a finger tattoo with clean lines they are all thick, blurred lines and not very nice looking IMHO. What about your wrist just below the palm of your hand? I have seen very nice letter/word tattoos there.

Advise: I have seen finger tattoos age and they don't age well at all. Within 5 years you will need touch ups, and within 10 years you won't be able to read it at all anymore. Please consider getting them somewhere else. The underside of your wrist, for example, or perhaps your foot?

well i knew someone who had love written on the same spot, but she was constantly washing her hands due to her job and her tattoo literally peeled off of her skin. now i assume she has a weird scar that sort of says love.

so if you ash/use your hands a lot, i dont recommend it.
