I always go for Titanium but I like the plastic balls mainly because the titanium balls have cracked my teeth (not that bad though thank God). I even bought some flexible (plastic) bar bells with the balls and they don't ruin my teeth so I've stuck with those ever since. I alternate with titanium bar bell and plastic bar bell with both having the plastic balls. Cus I have some friends whose teeth are all jacked up with the titanium balls. I don't want that to happen to me lol.

most piercers will not do a fresh piercing with titanium, as it generally causes more skin reactions than surgical steel, and u dont need that when u got a fresh piercing...! if in doubt, contact a piercer, they will know best, always good to ask a professional.

Most tongue piercings have surgical steel as the initial jewelry. You'd want to consider titanium if you have nickel-sensitivities.

It depends. If the piercing is preexisting, you can go either way. There's really no difference between the two. If you're going to get a piercing, however, always go with stainless steel for better ease of healing. After a few months you can change out your jewelery.

Titanium is better, it has less nickle in it than surgical steel.

My piercer told me that titanium is best for a new piercing because it doesn't hold as much bacteria.
Hope i helped
