this is probably a stupid question but i just had a small tattoo done between my shoulder blades on my back two days ago and i have been wearing back open tops to air it out a bit - but its a bit cold now and i want to just wear a shirt over it - will it do anything? i am worried about the material making it go funny? it looks really good and its not red or anything, just worried that my clothing might rub on it and make it all swollen or something??

my tattooist always tells me its fine to wear clothes but you have to watch what kind of material it is. if its cotton or something (t-shirt material) then it will put fluff in it or the cotton with catch on the scab and pull it off. if you wear proper shirts or clothes with the same kind of material then its fine. so if i were you i'd stick to loose shirts for a couple of days.

During the 1st few days of the healing process of your tattoo, you will have seepage and ink transfer. So, to protect your clothing and your tattoo from fibers and bacteria, try taping a clean piece of paper towel loosely (tape just the top) over your tattoo after washing it and applying Lubriderm unscented. Also, wearing a T- shirt that you don't mind messing up if you are putting on good clothes. You can do this to protect your sheets also. It is best to leave your tattoo uncovered, but sometimes you just can't. Be sure if you follow the method above, to moisten the paper towel before removing, so that if it is stuck to your tattoo, you do not pull off any scabs etc. Excellent aftercare is responsible for 50% of the finished look of your tattoo. So, you do what it takes and what is best for your tattoo. enjoy your ink~

I will have to agree with everyone else , that feels that wearing a loose fitting shirt would be fine for just a little while. It sounds as if your tat is coming alone just fine, Congrads! I hope you enjoy it.....Big Smile

Don't wear anything too tight, but you should be fine. If you are moving around alot, the material might irritate you, but you should be ok!
