Technically, you CAN wear a bra, but it can still mess up your tattoo a bit. I wore a bra for the first week after I got my shoulder blade tattoo. But my bra strap picked at it, and it bled a teeny bit. For the rest of the healing process, I just wore a bikini top until it was fully healed. So my advice to you would be wear either a bikini top or sports bra.

You can't wear a bra with straps. You have to go braless or use a strapless bra. Avoid anything that rubs badly on the area. It can mess up the tattoo and interfere with the healing. I got a tattoo on my shoulder blade and didn't listen to the guy who did the tattoo and just wore a bra. Well that didn't turn out to be good.

If you do any exercising or do anything that will cause rubbing of your bra strap against the tattoo, don't put any lotion or salves on before you get dressed. The moist skin of your healing tattoo will cause more friction against clothing if you have lotion on it.

I had a front shoulder tatt done and found that wearing a strapless bra was all I could handle. The straps irritated my skin way too much.

Is the tattoo going to be on the back sides of both arms in back of your shoulders? If not, just wear a cami with support. Something loose fitting. Or better yet, wear a bra, but put it at it's looser clasp.

It's best not to wear anything that will rub against the scabs as this will ultimately affect the quality of the final result. I've had a few tattoos done on my back and instead of a bra I've worn one of those strappy cotton vests that have the built in bra panel in the front until the tattoo has healed. It's usually only.for 3-4 days, depending in the level of work you've had done so hang in there. A tattoo is for life so a week of caution is definitely worth it.

Good luck.
