I'm turning 16 n almost two months. I don't want to end up regreting my decisions like some people do at my age, I've done alot of thinking, I've always wanted a shooting star because it represents wishes & hopes and I went through a really hard time & always wished for a better life, & I feel it's starting to happen.I thought about getting it on my wrist, but Ive decided to get in by/on my shoulder blade. I'm going to get a big star then long curly Q like lines outlined in black. I'm going to get three small stars right by it, one blue, green, & white, for my Grandmother, dad,&mothers birth stones. My mother because we went down a rocky road & I haven't gave her much credit most of my life when she deserves it for raising me well as a single mom.Mygrandmother because herwords got me to where I am today, and for My father that died when I was 7.What would the cost be for a medium sized tatt w color? Any ideas to how I could make it better? How long on average does a tatt take to heal?

I also have to agree, a sixteen year old that put A LOT of thought and effort into a tattoo CLAP CLAP CLAP! I think you will be pleased and happy with choosing a tattoo that has meaning and will be with you forever. You are definitely mature for your age which is nice to see for a change on here.

I also agree. I would like to see more people answering questions on here that are actually in the areas they want to be in. Why are you answering questions about tattoos if you hate them and are repulsed by them etc, etc. Go to another area and answer questions I am sure this nice girl does not want to hear your opinion about how much you do not like tattoos, etc, etc.

Now as far as cost goes for a medium tattoo with color I believe that has pretty much been covered here pretty well. A lot of things are going to depend on your location and what not, so I agree it will probably be anywhere from $120 to $160ish depending on where you go. But the only way you are going to know for sure is to ask around about reputable shops that preferably deal with custom work and then go into the shop and talk with one of their artist and explain to him/her what you want. They will give you a rough estimate of cost. At that point you will know for sue how much you are looking at for sure.

As far as healing time goes it usually takes a max time of two weeks for a tattoo to heal, the roughest patch is the first week when all the pealing and what not is taking place. Just make sure that you follow the artist specific instructions for taking care of your work. Always make sure that you use sunscreen when you are in the sun, as this will keep the colors very bright and prevent you from having to have touchup work done as often.

As far as making your idea any better, I don't think there is much I could add, It sounds great already! Good luck with your first bit of work. Only obstacle I see is getting past your age, hopefully you can get work done with parental consent good luck!!

You rock. I got my first tats when I was 19 and I got two black and pink stars on my shoulder blade. I had to go to WI because in IL they didn't allow anyone under 21 to get tattooed without parental consent. I got buffalloed with the price: each star is no more than the size of a half dollar and I had to pay $50 per star. Jeez. However, my new shop is awesome and very reasonable. I have two Tokidoki swallows on my lower back, about the size of my hand (fingers to wrist) for $150. I plan on getting some swirls done on my shoulder going around to my shoulderblade.

Also, anyone who thinks that girls with tattooes are repulsive... opinions are like a*holes... everyone's got one. And also, "tramp stamps" refer to those retarded butterflies or Kanji or whatever right above a girl's buttcrack. Anyone who gets a butterfly or a tiger or whatever is just going along with the crowd and are truly only doing it for fashion. Our girl here is doing it for sentimental reasons (like all tattoos should be) and should be applauded for her initiative and bravery.

let me first say WOW a sixteen year old who put thought behind a tattoo instead of coming on here and saying"I'm like 16 and like want a tattoo but don't know what"

My hats off to you!! The shoulder blade is a very nice place for a young lady to get a tattoo. As far as making it better its your idea and the tattoo is for you so keep it yours. 2 weeks and around 120-150 guess it depends on where you live

you would have to ask a tattoo shop, special request (meaning nothing on there board for you to pick from) usually cost more.

healing process is about a week i would say at most.

a medium tattoo would be around maybe 150.00 at most, all depends on the shop... some charge a sitting fee.. check around...

make sure you are getting tattooed by someone who uses a new needle everytime opens it in front of you..

and has experience

sounds like a nice tattoo with great meaning, and its in a spot that you wont hvae to look at it if you regretted it later in life..

and the tattoo artist will tell you want would make it better etc.. they always have suggestions.

and for the other person who called them tramp stamps.. those are for girls who get tattoos on there lower back side those are called tramp stamps not tattoos on the shoulder..

For me personally it didn't hurt very much, sometimes when the outline was done it hit some tender spots but it really wasn't bad at all. I have a wolf howling at the moon in the forest on my right shoulder blade.

The price varies by artist. Please don't choose who will do the tattoo based on price. You get what you pay for. I have a 4 pointed start on my shoulder blade, too. It is purple and gold. I have it shaded around in yellow and red. It does not hurt that bad. The one I got on my rt breast hurt a lot worse.

I think it is awesome that you are getting an original design, instead to any old flash. Good luck.

60-80 is WAY off... 40 is the least amount of $ you willpay for a tat. (that is for a SMALL without color)

depending on size, i say the least you are looking at is 120....

and...it doesnt hurt like hell. it will sting when it's on your shoulder blade, but on the skin and when the color is beign filled in it wont hurt AT ALL.

Sounds beautiful

I got a simple black and pink dragon fly on my upper left shoulder blade... it was my first tattoo... (still is my only) ... it cost me 80 on the sunset strip in holly wood... so idk it may cost less other places... but from my experience it didn't hurt me much at all... just felt like a bunch of pinches... but i guess everyone has diff experiences... its been over a year since i got it and i still love it!

Wow...another girl with a tattoo. How original.

Tats on girls are ugly and repulsive. They're called "tramp stamps" for a reason.

Yuk
